Battery and electrical repair in Twin Falls
Batteries, alternators, starters and wiring faults, including battery registration and coding on newer European vehicles.

Power for everything else
A modern vehicle runs dozens of modules off the battery and charging system. A weak battery can set off warning lights that seem to have nothing to do with it.
We test the battery, alternator and starter under load before replacing anything, and track down drains that kill a battery overnight. Many newer BMW, Mini, Audi, Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz models need a new battery registered so the charging system treats it right. We do that before the vehicle leaves.
You get a VHR, our Vehicle Health Report, and a written quote before any work starts.
Signs it's time to bring it in
These are the usual causes. We confirm which one it is before we quote anything.
| What you notice | What it usually is |
|---|---|
| Slow crank or a clicking sound | A weak battery, corroded terminals or a failing starter. |
| Battery dead after sitting | Something drawing power while parked, or a battery at the end of its life. |
| Battery light while driving | The alternator or its belt isn't charging the battery. |
| Dim or flickering lights | Low alternator output or a bad ground. |
| Several warning lights at once | Low voltage confusing the modules. |
| Windows, locks or gauges that quit | A blown fuse, a failed switch or a module fault. |
| Blown fuses or a burning smell | A short circuit. Stop driving and call. |

Questions about battery and electrical
How long does a car battery last?
Usually three to five years. Hot summers and cold winters both shorten that, so Magic Valley batteries often land at the short end. We test yours in every VHR so you can replace it before it leaves you stranded.
Why does a new battery need to be registered?
Many newer European vehicles adjust how they charge the battery based on its age. Registering a new battery tells the vehicle it's new, so it isn't overcharged and lasts as long as it should.
Is it my battery or my alternator?
If the vehicle won't start after sitting, start with the battery or a drain. If it dies while driving or the battery light comes on, the alternator is more likely. We test both before replacing either.
What drains a battery overnight?
Common causes are a module that doesn't go to sleep, an aftermarket accessory, a light that stays on or a stuck relay. We measure the draw and isolate the circuit causing it.
